THE CHIMES OF INNOCENCE

Innocence cannot be found in the forms Reality assumes but only in Reality's essence whose INFINITY quality is intrinsically innocence. Yet, since having no limits whatsoever this INFINITY quality "IS" absolutely everything there is, it is also the very fabric of the forms through which it expresses itself. And this, as twisted or even rotten as the forms may appear. When asked by a monk: "what is the Buddha?" Ummon answered thus: "A dried shit-stick"! He gave this shocking answer in order to produce a jolt in the monk and make him realize the INFINITE essence of Reality (the Buddha nature) is absolutely everything there is. Remove Reality's INFINITE essence and nothing remains, no form, zero !

Therefore, trying to right the twisted forms by manipulating them from outside, and this in order to retrieve innocence - or even just some kind of morality - is just a miserable masquerade and an unachievable dream. This dream is generated by people identified with their thoughts which are made of limits and see only limits. A dream religious and humanist people still pursue after millenia of failure until today. Forms alone, and thoughts are forms among forms, cannot right the twists generated by the lack of access to BEING or Reality's essence in us. Indeed, the INFINITY quality of this essence is, as we said, the sole innocence. We have a striking example for what I'm saying here with Islam which, seeking morality, cut throats, represses and hangs people, hiding women into black bags, as if they were just garbage, yet, so doing, sinks even deeper into immorality.

The difficulty for the spiritual work resides in the fact that there's nothing we can do to retrieve BEING and its INFINITY in us apart just being. The return to BEING is immediate and direct and doesn't need the long processes of complex and endless practices induced by thoughts. It occurs when we manage to fully observe the always renewed tip of the Present Instant and therefore 'travel' at its pace which is INFINITY's pace.

So, you just have to BE and here you ARE. This is what the Buddha meant when he held up a white flower during what is known as the Flower Sermon. No one in the audience understood what he meant except Mahākāśyapa who smiled because he realized the abrupt directness of the process if we understand it rightly. The problem is we already ARE the INFINITY of Reality's essence and it can be realized only in the Present Instant. Not through thought-systems and theories that involve TIME and are all part of the cognitive screen blinding the INFINITE Light in us.

When we establish our home in BEING in us, the screen of thoughts that lingers in our depth disintegrates at its own pace by the sole fact we experience BEING, or who we ARE in Reality, and therefore stop feeding this screen. Yet, the process of disintegration of our cognitive program might take some times since our body can cope with only a certain intensity or load of pain at each discharge. Fortunately we don't have to wait that long. As soon as we retrieve BEING in us no matter how much we are still cognitively loaded with unresolved pains, the innocence of the INFINITE consciousness pierces their mists and beams through them by the sole fact we are observering what "IS" and accept what "IS" as it is.

Just like the creation of the universe, the return to BEING in us is a dialectical operation. The very essence of BEING is an INFINITE consciousness that "IS" everything there "IS". So, just BE this "ISness" in you... and don't use your thoughts for that. The magic/divine is much, much closer to us than we may "think". We just have to tear the veil of identification with thoughts and open the eye of BEING in us. And this is done dialectically.

Try wanting to be empty instead of full, sometimes it works.
