HOW CAN THE FRUIT DESTROY THE TREE ?



   Just imagine that on a distant planet where NASA has eventually discovered LIFE, it has also isolated a species which is destroying the whole planetary ecosystem. Of course sending probes and technological devices would be important for studying the very situation there. But at one moment NASA would have to engage directly this destructive agent as to discover what makes it devastate the network upon which its very survival depends and eventually neutralize its toxicity.

Well, this extravagant scenario is verified on planet Earth where a similar agent is destroying the whole Biosphere. This agent is us, the very intelligent humans. According to what we said above, NASA should normally work at finding out why this marvelous creature is the only one among all the living species to endanger LIFE on Earth at a planetary scale.

Indeed, we generate Global Warming and Climate Change with our CO2 emissions transforming right before our eyes this tamed and harmonious planet into a wild fury. And we do this destruction in full knowledge and against all the warnings uttered by the United Nations' thousands of ecological experts. While the poles are melting and stroms, twisters, droughts and floods are becoming stronger and more frequent, forests and cultivable soils are shrinking at a huge speed. Due to our very action, natural elements are turning wild, unpredictable and utterly dangerous. Already our CO2 emisssions kill some five million people a year !

Jesus said in Matt. 7: 24-27: "The rain fell, the floods came, the winds blew and beat on our house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not follow them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand and great will be the fall of his house".

The sand onto which Humankind is building its house today is composed of the unresolved pains, gathered around birth, and which are too big to be consciously encountered. These pains expell us from our inner Reality and since Reality is not divisible, from Reality as a whole (*) See the paragraph on quantum physics at the end of this text.

The rock that can protect Humankind from the final destruction is BEING within us, which is Reality's INFINITE essence shared with the whole of Nature. This means that when we return to BEING in us we are reintegrated into Nature's web and cannot hurt it anymore.

Usually we have hard time just noticing BEING in us behind the thick foliage of our thoughts because, with Dr. Karl Marx, we expect BEING's substance to be material stuff while it is an INFINITE consciousness that is essence to everything there "IS". This INFINITE consciousness takes the appearance of matter, vibrating itself into the whole matter of the universe, sculpting all the different shapes it contains and through which it expresses itself and giving them their specific sense and function.

This means we are not external to Nature but only one of its fruits. So then why do we destroy it ? How can the fruit destroy the tree ? The answer is simple. When the child's Real self is struck with pains too big to be consciously encountered our organism automatically withdraws us from these insufferable pains by projecting us into a fake self, kind of cogntive bubble made of thoughts with which we gradually identify. This bubble, no matter how well we may adorn it, psychologically excludes us from Nature in us and therefore from Nature all around us. Locked up into our cogntive dungeon, Plato's Cave, we do not measure anymore the impact of our actions upon the external world including upon our own bodies. We use the Real world as to feed our pathological dream, totally oblivious of the desastrous consequences of such a flight strategy.

We see here, our ecological problem is a psychological and even a spiritual one since it is caused by the lack of access to BEING in us. Otherwise why can't we follow the United Nations/IPCC advices ? What is more important for us than a livable planet ? Why can't we understand that working together at answering the challenge of Global Warming, which doesn't know our frontiers, is our sole escape from a final disaster ? The truth is we are pathologically caught up into the cage of identification with thoughts which, driven by unresolved pains, eludes our control. The pulsions these encapsulated pains produce do not let us behave in accord with what we know and therefore the way we should, and would behave if we were free in our heads. This is why the return to BEING in us is so important for Humankind and why spirituality is essential to ecology.

(*) At the quantum level occurs what the physicist Bernard d'Espagnat calls "the violation of the principle of separability of Reality". In other words this simply means Reality's essence is INFINITE. The Real mass and the Real charge of a point particle, like the electron for instance, are INFINITE. As to avoid the INFINITY of the point-particle to blind all the equations, quantum physics has invented what is called "Renormalization". This stratagem arbitrarily gives the point-particle a mass and a charge different from INFINITY and therefore calculable. I know some ayatollahs of the scientific dogma will answer that Reality's essence is INFINITE only at the quantum level yet this is wrong simply because INFINITY being everything there "IS" cannot be enclosed into a certain level. Only people themselves enclosed into the limits of identification with thoughts can believe in such thought made contradiction.
